Ball State News

Well just got the newspaper today, and thank the lord I did because it was a well worth it this time. "Celebrating 90 Years of Storytelling" all through Ball State news. There are a few stories in this little booklet that I can relate to, or well at least say I have heard of them. I have never heard of the Ball State Streaking incident from back in the 70's, but it sounds like it was completely outrageous. With 5000 people in attendance on Riverside only 30 actually streaked, leaving with 6 arrested. Where did those days go? Why can't Ball State become united in ridiculous events such as this? It really makes sense that we don't but I'm just saying it would be interesting. The one rumor I did hear that relates to the 80's is that Ball State was the #1 party school, although this is false, Ball State was in the top 20 rankings of party schools. This party school image however has been shut down by Ball States efforts to recreate it in a more scholarly right. The 90's touch upon Ball State's Basketball sweet sixteen run. But the story I can relate to the most is the Ball State student shot and killed by a University Policeman. I heard this before I ever came to Ball State, and from what I read the officer put 3 bullets in his chest, and 1 in his head. Now if you ask me that is a little outrageous, the student was drunk banging on the wrong door because he though it was a friends house. The officer said the student charged him, and thus the incident broke out. Now it was a 100 million $ lawsuit that was dropped, but I feel it should have gone through because the officer never completed the police academy. Probably just my opinion though.

What else could I possibly write about......Well speaking on terms of the new scheduling system I find it interesting and  I guess I will decide for myself whether or not it is beneficial for me. From what I can tell I see it as fairly equal except for the athletes getting specialty picks. Organizationally structured from seniors through to freshman, with the the in between of  GPA's, honors students, athletes, and I'm sure whatever else you want. All I know is last time I scheduled I did not get the classes I wanted, well I missed a few with different professors but that is all, I really hope my adviser comes through in the clutch for me. I could use direction.
Looking back over the weekend it was quite a wonderful experience. For one of those groups speaking on terms of Alcohol I really wish you would have recorded my party on Friday, it was something to see, well at least that is how I feel. Anyway continuing on, the weekend is always the biggest adventure of the week because no one knows, unless you plan on doing something socially isolated, otherwise I feel as if everyone and anyone always enjoys the weekend. It is nothing but good times with friends in an environment that only promotes fun. It's the freaking weekend baby about to have me some fun.

SCHOOL

I feel a nice rant of school is necessary to relieve a little tension. School, been going since I've been born, basically. If all school is, is to better your intelligence then in reality you have been going all your life, and will never stop. People never stop learning from day to day, but in the structured organization of school, it is more of focused aspects such as the regular classes being taught since forever, it feels like. Math, English, Science, Physical, Languages, Art, History, and whatever else I forgot but those are the basics. When it gets to the collegiate level it becomes more descriptive. You find yourself becoming funneled into one certain field, besides relearning all you did in high school as quickly as possible. But College, I feel it is a matter of time and respect for yourself to WANT to learn. I have heard it from a professor before, College should not be based on a grading scale or GPA's , but solely for those who want to learn. If you don't want to learn then what are you doing here, wasting money? That has been the clearest understanding of continuing education to me, there are people who want to learn, and from my view those who are to an extent forced to learn until they fail out. School is nothing but time management. Those who use it correctly succeed, those who don't struggle. But in the end yes you have a better % of becoming successful, but it is all about connections and people you know. There are, I'm sure, a good amount of people who have failed in school but become successful in another aspect of life, because of the people they know. That is all, and I feel better.
Looking back into the past week I felt it was one of my most difficult yet interesting, and exciting if you ask me. The weeks are growing warmer as tests, projects, papers, and websites are beginning to be crumbled into the remaining time left of classes. Finals week is approaching and people are beginning to lose their minds. I however, have lost mine a while back and am trying to restructure it to put things into perspective. Crazy, but it does make sense, at least to me. Last week went through a great deal of agitation, and stress that all comes to an end with time. I had a presentation last week with the topic of Good Characters Gone Bad, in relation to the show Breaking Bad, I feel it makes the most sense. Hope I did well and good luck in the future. Also here is a little peace of mind video.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

My Monday was a well played out action film if you ask me. For the past few weeks I have been riding to, on, around, and off campus on a bike with flat tires. It sounds worse than it is, because it still rides well but just requires more leg strength than normal, also you can make tight turns as I found out quickly. But I flew onto campus as a maniac stopping for no one in my regards, although I am fairly good at dodging students as they never watch where they are walking, which is why I like to off-road it as you could say and just fly through the grass only to dodge trees and squirrels. I guess that really is the largest action part of the day, a little anti climatic but whatever floats your boat. I ended up watching a little of the Cubs game and finished by watching "Breaking Bad" until around 4am for a presentation later in the week. A long lived Monday of doom.
As of my Sunday, I did not wake up in time to go to 7am mass with my mother and father, however I did manage to get up and be ready to go to my grandmothers house for breakfast around 9:30. This is a family tradition, and with all tradition there is the Easter egg hunt. Although you can never be to old for that I did not participate, I did hide the eggs for the smaller grandchildren though, and I had to do so all by myself. It may sound fun to hide the eggs, but to an extent it becomes annoying, nonetheless I did it and will admit I hid some so well I had to tell them where they were. Finishing up talking with family and eating breakfast I couldn't spend my morning better. I got home around noon and began to drink wine, mostly Oliver soft red and Moscoto, but it was delicious and prepared me to watch the ending to the Masters, or as much as I could before I rode back to Muncie with one of my roommates. This was the best day of the weekend by far.
Following my awesome Friday, it led right into a fun filled, relaxing Saturday. I mostly just sat around doing nothing but watching the Masters, which could have gone better only if Freddy Couples would have won. I say this because I do enjoy watching him, although he is my fathers favorite golfer may have an influence on me, but if Fredrick would have won my father would have won in the upwards of 4,000$ because he placed a bet on him in Vegas. But things did not work out well, but they were looking good when he was tied for first at -5 until he threw it away and had an interesting finish. the rest of the day was me writing on the group website and finishing a few other things up, but a day well spent.
I had the greatest day on Friday, not only because it led to Easter weekend but the day was simply wonderful. I had a test in Health Science but gladly it took me no time at all to know I already knew the material, coming out of it with a well established upwards of 90% or better. That led me to go home and gather my things for the car ride home to see my family on a terrific Easter Sunday. Also when I got home I watched "Live Free or Die Hard" for the first time, amazingly I cant believe I have never seen it before, and it was a pretty darn good movie. Tis All!

Saturday, March 31, 2012

This week went by pretty quickly all to get to the weekend which everyone lives for, at least that's how I see it. This Friday our friend asked if we could host his birthday bash, and so we did. It was a riot, and to my knowledge everyone enjoyed themselves, well at least I told everyone as they walked through my front door to just have fun. There are always plenty of people to interact with when it is your house and tons of people flow through the front door. Everything went well and there was no problem with authorities after our third party attempt. So in the future I can guarantee we will have another large get together, I guess I will blog about it when it comes around so if interested just contact me.
If you haven't seen this before, it is pretty entertaining.

Log 2

On Thursday of class we went over the intensive reviews but did not finish them. I have found the intensive reviews for me very helpful because I learn from others papers. Even though I did not have mine under review I still find good information from discussion. As the class ended we were told to have seen  "Thank you for Smoking" and read text for Tuesday.

Log 1

On Tuesday Professor McArdle had us break into our new peer groups and future multimodal project partners. After we handed in our peer review sheets we discussed each others papers. This was very constructive for me because I found very useful information from my group and the professor. Class ended with a reminder of intensive reviews and any questions to email.
As my Monday began I was excited to begin another 5 week new class, script writing. I believe it should be an interesting and fun time to just get creative. The professor seems nice and the class shall go well. As my day came to an end among all other work I completed, I found myself in a tiring mood and on the verge of sleep. Another Monday gone and I am grateful.

Sunday, March 25, 2012

On a terrific Saturday morning I did find myself a ride to Bloomington to visit a friend and enjoy the experience. I felt bad though because my friend scooped me up on the way there then drove back on Sunday. It was a well spent visit and I defintily saw some weird stuff but that will just be stored in the memory bank for another day. I did spend my fair share of cash though on majority food and gas. I safely returned to my house for a new week.
As of last Friday, it was a good day. I woke up with more energy than normal and went to class. I finished a presentation on my copy writing and it went very well. I then headed home on the belief I was heading to bloomington on the chance they would beat kentucky again and have a great night. but anyway the night was fine and relaxing at my house soley because I could not find a ride. All in all a great Friday to open the weekend.

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Well sadly I have not stayed true to what I said, I haven't blogged everyday. But I truly do want to blog everyday, however I need to find a good time to blog so that I will remember it. Anyway Monday went very well with a class just dedicated to the teacher helping students with their final presentations which wasn't to bad, and it was optional but well worth going for me. Then went home on a beautiful day to relax for a little then dig into some work.

Monday, March 12, 2012

Well today started off well except there it something wrong with my wrist. Every night it feels like my thumb pops out of place and when I wake up I feel pain and then can pop it back into place. Interesting...yet I do not like the feeling because as of lately the pain has intensified a little. Anyways continuing my Monday I wake up go to my tcom copy class where we learn to write advertisements for products in TV, radio, and such I took notes and will later study for my exam on wed. But the class was enjoyable. I then continued my day to grab a bus to the back of the student center and walked home. Since then I went to the gym with my roommate and got a good lift and run in. Now I am relaxing after eating Jimmy Johns and will later do so school work.

Sunday, March 11, 2012

Wrapping up this Sunday has been nice and I cleaned and rearranged my room, there really is so much more space for activities!!! I will enjoy that but the day is coming to a close and Im ready to bust out the rest of this school year. Have a great week everyone!!!
Honestly I can say this is my favorite time of the year, because it is Selection Sunday. College basketball is by far my favorite sport, although I've played baseball longer than basketball. I find college basketball the most entertaining form for me, and I follow the best team within the last decade...Duke. The coach K era has been very awesome for me to watch establish considering they began their back to back titles in 91'-92' , with 91' being the year of my birth. I see coach K as being one of thee best ever. Among the top of college basketball coaches, he is an author also and I have read one of his books, although I find his way to communicate with his players much more important. And I would love to see my Blue Devils get another final four this year!!!

Just went to a conference meeting with  the Professor, it's good to know they really do help you out how they can but it all starts with helping yourself, just the beginning to a Tuesday blog. Today I have found interest inside myself to push harder to accomplish just some little goals in my eyes but more difficult in others. This AB is coming along very nicely and I believe I have gathered some great information to use in the future. Have a great Tuesday!

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Looking into an overview of the week, I took some quizzes and feel very satisfied with my results which have yet to be announced. It was a long week of trying to clean and prepare for a party my house threw. And in all honesty it turned out better than expected, and there were no problems. Now the only real problem is to tidy up the house again, but what can you do besides do it.

Sunday, February 19, 2012

This weekend I decided to take off the normal shenanigans and find my way home for a real kind of rest and relaxation. Nothing but good food and lots of rest. I know my parents were glad to see me, even though my activities were a tad bit boring, I believe it was time well spent. Honestly the best reason to go home is to see the pets, two little dogs a puggle and a piegle, nothing better. But now I'm ready to hop into a new week and use the fresh start to my advantage, hope everyone has a good week :).
blogging blogging blogging...blogging it is. Well Just another week under my belt, successful week I would say, on top of my work and doing it well, I hope the rest of you can say the same. I was anxious to finish this week and get a hair cut, I haven't let my hair grow that long in who knows how long, but I am glad to say...a new hair cut, a new attitude, a new me.

Sunday, February 12, 2012

This weekend my roommate went home and I felt lost. It was a nice chill weekend and I am very excited to dive into this cultural touchstone. The annotated bibliography went really well and I am looking forward to writing this paper more than any other as of lately. I believe I will truly enjoy researching this and the numbers. I wish everyone the best this week as another collegiate struggle passes by.

Thursday, February 9, 2012

what a witty day...figured I would blog about it so I can get it off my chest consciously and no one can give a duck. Finished my paper in the wee hours as normal, well as normal as just about anything else I would do, wake up to go to class but first to print my paper off so out the door I go. Walk a block to get to Jackson, cross it and dodge the annoying cars as they never stop coming, walk two more blocks to get on campus, walk two more blocks to get to the student center, go in the computer lab to print off paper, a few touch ups and press print, check printer and no paper shows up on the computer to print, repeat about 10 times because I believed I was doing something incorrectly....time passes to 12:20, I notice two other girls not getting anything printed either, girl goes to desk person and trys to resolve problem, desk person says printer is broken, girl storms out of lab in a furious manner...I follow realizing what was said, quick paced walking from student center to Robert Bell infuriated because I know I'm going to be late......I'm late and am out 15 points and now I am thinking of what to do about this problem, choices i will have to make on my own, but thats what thats about and in comparison it feels like a single rain drop fell today and it happened to hit my eye, because honestly I never in my mind saw myself being one of THOSE people will bad luck problems, but life goes on and I feel better because I blogged about it...:)

Sunday, February 5, 2012

Super Bowl Sunday!!! Hoo-ray!!! Although from what I have heard people want the Giants to win I want the Pats. This morning before the festivities began in my house, my room mate compared the Pats to the Yankees. Now I can see the relation because they are the dominant force in their league, but as of lately the Yanks have not proved that, and same with the Pats. Just indulged my first six pack for the day. Crab Cakes and football that's what Maryland does.

Thursday, February 2, 2012

Considering everyone needs help at some point for something, thus far meeting with Ball State Professors has never steered me wrong, and I'm sure that's what the Professors expected. And since I have meet with three different English Professors, they have all help push my writing in the right direction. Although I am not very keen on admitting I need help, help really helps so to speak. Everyday I'm on that grind just trying to live the dream. Be Easy.

Sunday, January 29, 2012

Successful day. Caught up on work, went to the gym, and I feel so much better. This week is going to be interesting, many exams and quizzes coming up. I am going to need all the mental strength possible. But today I also watched Armageddon and this song always sticks in my head.

This is officially the end of a terrible week for me, i have never been so sick, I truly believe it was food poisoning but I am glad it has passed. I hope that never strikes me again. I need to watch what I eat more, hoping to make today productive and play catch up on some work. Hoo-ray for Sundays.

Sunday, January 22, 2012

After this weekend I started to think of Spring Break and basically road trippin. This would be my first Spring Break actually going anywhere...exciting. But that is still very far away and I need to stay on task. Taking care of Business in the months to come, hope it pays off.
Well Saturday night was interesting, long walks in the cold late at night. I did manage to fall in the snow and lose my phone battery, just the battery though i still have the phone. I hope I can pick up a droid battery at some store tomorrow but I dont mind not being connected to the world, it is a relaxing feeling. Yesterday I went to the library to get started on National Gaze, and I just got reminded how time consuming it is to write a research paper. Hope everyone has a nice easy upcoming week!

Sunday, January 15, 2012

Its Sunday as I sleep in to 1:00pm as usual but today is awesome, because we have tomorrow off I want to thank Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for being an inspirational man. And for that reason I will use tomorrow to finish my homework. But as my roommate runs in and starts eating, I become hungry. Not much else to say but to Support my Duke Blue Devils as they prepare to be another contender. Enjoy the day!

Friday, January 13, 2012

blogs, blogs, blogs....for some strange reason I believe this word will stick in my head for a while. It isn't a bad thing because I will constantly be reminded to write about something, anything, Week 1 done. This week just made me realize I am getting farther into my major, Tcom. More and more crazy classes with outrageous projects and papers to put together, for the people taking English 104, be ready. This is my second time taking the class, the first time I failed wasn't because I was doing bad, a more factual way to say it is my attendance did not help the cause. Nonetheless I will make sure that doesn't interfere this time. Bloggity blog blog...Well this is my first blog ever...exciting. On another note it's friday....anyone know of any parties tonight?
