Well just got the newspaper today, and thank the lord I did because it was a well worth it this time. "Celebrating 90 Years of Storytelling" all through Ball State news. There are a few stories in this little booklet that I can relate to, or well at least say I have heard of them. I have never heard of the Ball State Streaking incident from back in the 70's, but it sounds like it was completely outrageous. With 5000 people in attendance on Riverside only 30 actually streaked, leaving with 6 arrested. Where did those days go? Why can't Ball State become united in ridiculous events such as this? It really makes sense that we don't but I'm just saying it would be interesting. The one rumor I did hear that relates to the 80's is that Ball State was the #1 party school, although this is false, Ball State was in the top 20 rankings of party schools. This party school image however has been shut down by Ball States efforts to recreate it in a more scholarly right. The 90's touch upon Ball State's Basketball sweet sixteen run. But the story I can relate to the most is the Ball State student shot and killed by a University Policeman. I heard this before I ever came to Ball State, and from what I read the officer put 3 bullets in his chest, and 1 in his head. Now if you ask me that is a little outrageous, the student was drunk banging on the wrong door because he though it was a friends house. The officer said the student charged him, and thus the incident broke out. Now it was a 100 million $ lawsuit that was dropped, but I feel it should have gone through because the officer never completed the police academy. Probably just my opinion though.
